In honour of the , our Mental Health Services team is hosting an event to observe the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, commemorating the lives lost in the December 6, 1989, École Polytechnique Montreal massacre.

Why It Matters
On December 6, 1989, fourteen young women were murdered at École Polytechnique in Montreal simply because they were women pursuing engineering studies. This tragedy reminds us of the devastating impact of gender-based violence and misogyny, and calls us to action in preventing violence against women and gender-diverse people. .

This day reminds us that gender-based violence continues to affect our communities and that we all have a role to play in creating change.
